Interclub tennis concerns
If you have a concern that relates specifically to Interclub tennis, you must submit the details in writing through your Club’s internal Interclub Controller or Secretary, who will then escalate the issue to Tennis Auckland in accordance with match code of conduct rules.
There are two Senior Interclub windows run by Tennis Auckland throughout the year.
Summer Interclub runs approximately from September until April each year, breaking over the Christmas/New Year period. Teams are split into grades of up to 12 teams, playing round robin matches every other week on Saturdays.
Winter Interclub runs approximately from June to August each year played weekly on Sundays.

Current & Upcoming Competitions for 2026
For the 2026 season we are using Match Point and ITF World Tennis Number grading. Team Captains please enter your results through the Match Point app. Instructions for using that app can be found here.
The Senior Interclub singles competition is divided into 4 different grades.
Promotion / Relegation Grades Please Note:
- All Transfers for the Promotion/Relegation Grades listed below must be submitted to Tennis Auckland Office by 1st August 2025
- Transfers are required for any players that played Senior Interclub Promotion/Relegation Grades for a Club last season and wish to play Promotion/Relegation Grades for a different Club this season
- Players that do not complete a transfer form by 1 August are not eligible to play Senior Interclub Promotion/Relegation Grades for a new Club this season
- Additions to a Promotion/Relegation team list must be made by 1st February 2026
Order of play Please Note:
- Order of play for September to December 2025 is from Grading List as at 15 August 2025
- Order of play for February to April 2026 is from Grading List as at 1 February 2026
Grades
Caro Bowl Reserve (Men & Women)
Eligible clubs may enter a maximum of two teams in each grade. Promotion/Relegation rules will apply at the end of the season.
First Grade (Men & Women)
Eligible clubs may enter a maximum of two teams in First Grade Women and four teams in First Grade Men. Promotion/Relegation rules will apply at the end of the season.
Second Grade (Men only)
Eligible clubs may enter a maximum of four teams. Promotion/Relegation rules will apply at the end of the season.
Open Grades (Men & Women)
Each grade will consist of a maximum of 12 teams (Men’s or Women’s). Promotion rules will apply at the end of the season.
For the 2026 season, we will be using Match Point. Clubs will be emailed information.
The Senior Interclub doubles grades include Ferrier Cup, Presidents A and Open Presidents. A Mixed-Four Presidents Grade was introduced in the 2020/21 Season and will continue this season. Doubles grades are open to eligible players aged 30 and over as at 1 September 2025. Caro Bowl players 35 years and over as at 1 September 2025 are eligible to play Ferrier Cup only.

Ferrier Cup (Mixed)
Only two teams from eligible clubs are entitled to enter. Promotion/Relegation rules will apply at the end of the season.
Presidents A (Mixed)
Only two teams from eligible clubs are entitled to enter. Promotion/Relegation rules will apply at the end of the season.
Open Presidents (Mixed)
Each grade will consist of a maximum of 12 teams. Promotion rules will apply at the end of the season to Open Presidents 1.
Mixed-Four Presidents (Mixed)
Four-person teams, two men and two women, playing two doubles and two mixed doubles matches per contest. Each grade will consist of a maximum of 12 teams.

Super Tennis is divided into Men’s and Women’s Doubles Competitions.
There are four players in each team with each player playing three doubles matches per contest. Each match is first to 8 games. The highest-graded player must play at no. 1 in each contest. Play goes for a maximum of three hours, starting at either 12pm or 3pm on Saturdays. There are no age restrictions.

Twilight Tennis is an evening competition, played on Mondays and Tuesdays during daylight saving. There are separate Men’s and Women’s competitions, with both singles and doubles grades. Twilight Interclub is separate from the Saturday Interclub competitions.
Singles Competition (Start time 6:30pm)
Two, three or four people per team.
2 singles matches, 1 doubles match
Each match shall be two sets only using sudden death deuce concept. If one set all a SUPER TIE-BREAK will determine the result.
Doubles Competition (Start time 6:30pm)
1 & 2 and 3 & 4 play the first two doubles
1 & 3 and 2 & 4 play the second two doubles

Overview
There are three winter competition options – singles, doubles or mixed doubles, all four person teams playing weekly on Sundays at 10am for either 6 or 7 weeks. For further information please contact your club interclub controller.
Singles
• 4 players per team (or 5 if using a specialist doubles player)
• Separate competitions for men and women
• A fixture consists of 4 singles matches and 2 doubles matches
Doubles
• 4 players per team
• Separate competitions for men and women
• A fixture consists of 4 doubles matches – playing order 1 & 2, 3 & 4, 1 & 3, 2 & 4
Mixed Doubles
• 2 men and 2 women per team
• A contest consists of 2 mixed doubles matches, 1 ladies doubles, 1 mens doubles
All matches (including singles) will be two Tie-break sets. If the score is one set all a Super Tie-break (first to 10 points with a two-point advantage) will be played to decide the winner.
Team Captains will be responsible for arranging alternative dates if play is not possible, or matches cannot be completed when rain stops play. The first two weekends of August may also be used for any rained-out contests. Tennis Auckland will not reschedule any contests.
